Creative Spaces is a DCMS and lottery funded program set to launch at The Pump in Kitts Green – a series of workshop spaces committed to providing young people with creative
opportunities to inspire and motivate them to be the best they can be.
This spring, an innovative new project; ‘Makerspace’ will be opening its doors to the public for the very first time – providing young people with access to the latest creative, design, art and technology tools, including state-of-the-art 3D printers. To celebrate the official launch of “Makerspace” in association with The Pump, we’re searching for the most talented and creative students from across East Birmingham, to be in with a chance of winning a fantastic prize that will see their work showcased in the iconic Library of Birmingham.
To take part in the competition, students will have to re-design one of two famous Birmingham landmarks – the iconic Bull and the Library of Birmingham. Entries can be submitted by one or more of the following:
• Completing the 2D design template enclosed.
• Creating a small prototype model out of materials of choice.
• Downloading the 3D CAD file, from our website, and adapting it, or creating one from scratch (submissions of this kind must be a .stl file.)
Whatever entry method is chosen, entries should be creative, original and unique! We will be selecting nine finalists to attend the official Makerspace launch event on Thursday 26 April 2018, where the designs will be brought to life as real 3D models, using the printers and equipment in the Makerspace. As well as having their designs come to fruition, each finalist will also receive a £50 art voucher, a tour of the Creative Spaces and an exclusive free pass for a group of students from their school to enjoy a complimentary session at our Makerspace.
Three winners will then be selected by our panel of judges, to have their exclusive designs unveiled at the Library of Birmingham, where they will be captured by a professional photographer.
All entries should be returned to Creative Spaces at The Pump, 286 Kitts Green Road, Birmingham B33 9SB before Wednesday 21 March including details of their name, age and school contact details, or submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Good luck and we look forward to seeing you at the Creative Spaces soon.
